Rafa Benitez has steped up his chase for Brann Bergen striker Erik Huseklepp as the Spaniard looks to add to his Anfield strike-force.

The Liverpool boss is keen to add to his attacking options, with his struggling side struggling to score goals and keep pace at the top of the Premier League.

The seemingly iminent exit of Andrea Dossena to either a club in Spain or Zenit St Petersburg would generate the funds for a move, with Benitez being told that he needs to sell before transfers can be made on Merseyside.

Huseklepp has been watched by a handful of scouts in his homeland, and the Norwegian international has recently come to the fore with his first goal for the country against Scotland in August.

A tall and versatile striker who can also play on the right wing, Huseklepp scored a goal every other game for Brann last season, with 15 league goals to his name in the Norwegian Premier League. The Reds were heavily linked with the forward last week, and reports refuse to go away as the January transfer window gets closer. Huseklepp's agent is delighted that the striker is getting some attention from the Premier League."If these rumours are correct, it's great. They are a big club and it's nice if they have noticed Erik," he said.
