Andrea Dossena could be on his way back to Italy after his agent, Roberto La Florio, admitted the Liverpool defender has attracted interest from Italian club Napoli.

The Italian only signed for Liverpool last year for £7 million, becoming the first Italian player to play for the Reds.

Dossena has become increasingly frustrated at his lack of first team football making just one substitute appearance so far.

Now Roberto La Floria says Napoli are looking to fill their left-back position, with Dossena identified as a potential target.

La Floria says: “It is clear that in January Napoli will sign new players, especially in the role of Dossena.

“We’ll see in January if there are opportunities to return to Italy and play – we are interested because Dossena wants to go to the World Cup.

“Napoli is the Italian team that has pushed most for Dossena and according to me it would be the perfect solution for him.”

Dossena may make the bench tomorrow in Liverpool’s crucial Champions League tie as he recovers from a muscular injury.
