Liverpool defender Fabio Aurelio could be back in contention after recovering from a calf injury picked up at Stoke last month. Fernando Torres and Glen Johnson remain sidelined by knee problems, while Yossi Benayoun is out with a rib injury.

Everton duo Yakubu and Joseph Yobo are available after returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty in Angola. Mikel Arteta (groin) and Dan Gosling (hamstring) both missed last weekend's win at Wigan.

Leon Osman and Everton planning to end ten years of torture

A win for Liverpool in the 213th Merseyside derby will take the Reds above Tottenham into the final Champions League spot, at least for a few hours, but Everton have got other ideas.

Midfielder Leon Osman believes the Toffees are playing well enough to end their ten-year run without a victory at Anfield tomorrow lunchtime.

The Reds have rediscovered the winning habit since Christmas, taking 14 points from a possible 18, and face an Everton side who have not won at Anfield since 1999.

Fast-improving Everton have European ambitions of their own after steadily climbing the table in recent weeks. Since losing the reverse fixture at Goodison, the Toffees are unbeaten in nine league games.

Osman says: “We're playing well and we believe in each other and we're winning games at the minute. We should, as a team, take each game as it comes and go there this time and win the game."

Everton are unbeaten in nine Premier League games since November's defeat by Liverpool at Goodison Park - a run which has seen them draw at Chelsea and Arsenal.

Soman added: "People weren't expecting us to get a result at Chelsea and it was the same at Arsenal and we should have won.

"We want to go one better now and try and turn those draws into a victory. There'll be times when we'll get opportunities in the game and we've got to make sure we take them and keep it tight at the back as well. We've shown this season we can go to places and get results."
