Manchester United are reportedly considering a summer bid for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Neven Subotic.

The 23-year-old has starred once again in the heart of the Dortmund defence this season as Jürgen Klopp's side pursue a second consecutive Bundesliga title.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked with a bid for Subotic in the past and now, according to the Daily Mail, the United boss is preparing an offer of £16.5 million for when the transfer window reopens.

Ferguson is said to have received a glowing reference on the talents of Subotic from his international teammate Nemanja Vidic, who is currently sidelined until next season.

Subotic and Vidic have impressed as a partnership for Serbia and, it would seem, could now be given the opportunity to feature alongside each other at club level.

However, he would have to compete with the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling for a starting berth, should he move to Old Trafford.
