Manchester United are reportedly preparing to begin negotiations with Luis Nani regarding a lucrative new contract for the Portuguese winger.

Although he has not enjoyed personal success to the same degree as last season, Nani has been an important contributor this term, and has weighed in with eight goals.

According to The Sun, the 24-year-old will be rewarded for his exploits with a 'megabucks' new contract, worth around £27 million over a four-year period.

Manchester United are said to be ready to spend after claiming a record £175 million in profit over six months, and will begin by securing key players to new deals.

Nani moved to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon for £18 million in 2007 and, after taking some time to find his feet, has become an integral part of Sir Alex Ferguson's plans.

The Portugal international was voted the club's player of the season last term as United secured a record 19th league title.
