Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren was in defiant mood despite seeing his side concede a 2-0 advantage to Basle in the first leg of their UEFA Cup quarter-final.The Swiss league leaders scored twice inside three minutes at the end of the first half to give themselves a healthy lead to take to the Riverside Stadium next Thursday. Boro, who had defender Emanuel Pogatetz taken to hospital with a suspected fractured skull after a clash of heads with midfielder Mladen Petric, will need to produce their best form if they are to make the semi-finals - but that is exactly what McClaren expects."I saw enough in that game, saw enough in the first 45 minutes - when we controlled and dominated - to know it will be completely different at the Riverside," he said.
