Middlesbrough manager Steve McClaren has admitted his shock after keeper Mark Schwarzer handed in a transfer request on the eve of his side´s FA Cup third round clash with non-league Nuneaton Borough. The 33-year-old Australian rocked the Teessiders when he asked for a move just six months after signing a lucrative three-year contract, with his agent claiming he is looking for a fresh challenge. Schwarzer´s bombshell came after Boro´s disappointing run of results over Christmas."I was very surprised, very shocked and very disappointed," McClaren said. "Really, it was accepted reluctantly on our behalf. But as always, you only want players who are happy here, who want to play for your football club, and Mark has made it known he wants to move on, so we have reluctantly accepted that."
