Manchester City midfielder James Milner believes David Silva is the clear favourite to win the PFA Players' Player of the Year award this season.

Along with Silva, Milner has also reserved special praise for Joe Hart, and says the England No.1 will be in contention for the English game's top individual gong.

The Spaniard joined City in the summer of 2010 and has undoubtedly been one of the stand out performers in the Barclays Premier League this season.

Silva has contributed five goals and 12 assists in 22 games as City set the pace in the race for the league title, and Milner has been in awe of the performances of the 26-year-old midfielder.

“Maybe I am biased but David [Silva] has been unbelievable for us," Milner told the official Manchester City website.

“He should be in the running regardless of what I think.

“But we have another candidate, too because Joe Hart has been absolutely outstanding all season.

“There have been top performances right through the squad. Gareth Barry has been unbelievable while the boys at the back Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott plus Gael Clichy coming in – it’s not easy changing clubs.

“It is a quality squad to be involved in, but David and Joe are the two stand-out performers for me.

"We can't vote for them because we are team-mates but I’m sure they will be there or thereabouts.”

City are five points ahead of second-placed Manchester United in the Barclays Premier League, and will have the opportunity to further extend their lead on Tuesday evening.

Roberto Mancini's side face Everton at Goodison Park, while United host Stoke at Old Trafford.
