Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has just penned a new four-year deal and his colleagues are backing him to prove his worth at the highest level next season, and beyond.

The possibility of pairing transfer target Kevin Doyle with Ebanks-Blake is a potentially mouth-watering prospect for the Wolves faithful.

It is also a prospect that will excite teammates too as Dave Jones waxed lyrical about the impact Ebanks-Blake can have in the top flight.

“He’s the sort of player who will make the step up to the next level and help to establish us in the top flight,” said Jones of last season’s golden boot winner in the Championship.

“He’s so strong and powerful, he only needs one chance and the ball is in the net. He works very hard for the team and now he’s got his rewards.”

Certainly if Ebanks-Blake can get amongst the goals again next season, Wolves’ prospects of staying in the Premier League will be hugely enhanced.

Wolves were delighted to offer the former Manchester United reserve a new contract which ties him to the club until 2013, and chief executive Jez Moxey said: “This is a reward to Sylvan for his outstanding goalscoring for the last two years.

"To win the Golden Boot two years running is a superb achievement and we want him to feel absolutely magnificent going into the Premier League, where hopefully he can do exceptionally well.

"We realise it's a big step-up but he's really happy about being here and he sees his long-term future here too and we feel we have to act accordingly."
