Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas has been receiving high praise from his teammates this week – and he continues to earn the respect of football fans nationwide.

The race to become PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for October is hotting up, and Fabregas is leading the way, along with a number of other Champions League big hitters.

Fabregas was on target, and led by example, against AZ Alkmaar in the Gunners’ 1-1 draw in Holland on Tuesday.

Premier League top ten contenders (alphabetical):

Nicolas Anelka - Chelsea
Andrey Arshavin - Arsenal
Craig Bellamy - Manchester City
Darren Bent - Sunderland
Didier Drogba - Chelsea
Cesc Fabregas - Arsenal
Frank Lampard - Chelsea
John Terry - Chelsea
Robin Van Persie - Arsenal
Thomas Vermaelen - Arsenal

And Frank Lampard, after a ten-game goal drought, was back on the scoresheet for Chelsea in Wednesday night’s 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal are on a high at the moment and four of their players feature in the top ten as voting for fans’ player of the month stands at the moment.

Andrey Arshavin and Thomas Vermaelen are also in the mix, and it’s good to see homegrown talent such as Craig Bellamy and Darren Bent being recognised for their goalscoring efforts at Manchester City and Sunderland, respectively.
