Wayne Rooney’s devastating spell of sustained brilliance over the last few weeks, and more, has earned him the title of PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for January.
The highlight of the last month was his stunning four-goal haul against Hull – a career first – and the Manchester United ace is already on 20 league goals for the season – a career best.

Rooney has been in inspirational form recently and maintained his incredible run by scoring his 100th Premier League goal – and 22nd in all competitions this season – against Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
Whilst United fans are hoping he can keep his goalscoring run going as the Red Devils chase titles at home and abroad, England fans are keeping fingers crossed that he can stay fit and take his current form onto the world stage in the summer.
There has been some wild speculation that Rooney, like Cristiano Ronaldo, might be tempted abroad at some stage, but United chief executive David Gill insists those comments are wide of the mark and says Rooney will be offered a new contract in the summer.
"We would hope Wayne would stay with us until he has finished playing," Gill has gone on record as saying. "He has a contract to 2012 and that will be addressed during the close season because we would want to put him on a new long-term contract.
"We have not got round to those discussions yet because Wayne is focusing on football and the World Cup.
"But he is 24 and has his best years ahead of him. For obvious reasons, very few UK-based players want to leave Manchester United."
