It has not been an easy time for Peter Crouch since his move to Spurs from Portsmouth. The 6 foot 7 inch international striker has made few appearances for his new club, but played all 90 minutes against Doncaster Rovers in the Carling Cup, showing Spurs fans what they've been missing with a goal on his starting debut. Givemefootball’s Lawrie Madden caught up with Crouch after a convincing 5-1 win at the Keepmoat Stadium.Q: A convincing victory, but was the scoreline a bit flattering?A: They are a top side. They passed the ball very well and play the game the right way. In the first 15 minutes they played all the football. They had a couple of chances before we scored, and we reacted and scored after that and in the end we got five.Q: And you managed to get on the scoresheet yourself?A: I was quite keen to get on the end of it. A ball came in from David Bentley, a good ball, and my eyes lit up and I managed to get on the end of a good ball.Q: Has it been frustrating for you not playing?A: It has been disappointing. I had a bit of a saga signing from Portsmouth and that didn’t help as I didn’t have much of a pre-season. Those players who were starting first had a full pre-season and took their chance and it has been difficult to get a starting place, especially as we have started so well.Q: I suppose it was good to play and get a run out?A: It was a good opportunity to play against good opposition. When you play you have to take your opportunity. I played 90 minutes and scored, and so hopefully I have given the manager something to think about.Q: The team have started well. Can this be your season?A: We have had a great start. We have a good squad. There has been a lot of a changes and there are a lot of international players on show like tonight. There is a fight for places and although we have started well we are not shouting from the rooftops about our success. We need to keep it going as we have only played a few games.Q: From a personal point of view, you are one of four strikers. How do you find the competition?A: It is good to have four strikers in the squad. The club is ambitious and need to have a strong squad, so replicate all positions all over the pitch and not just up front. We had internationals on the bench against Doncaster last night.Powered by: GiveMeFootball.com, football news and player interviews
