Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp is hoping Kanu will turn down the chance of Champions League football with Hamburg SV to head instead for Fratton Park. The Pompey boss is optimistic he can convince the 6ft 5in striker to sign, after meeting him at his club´s Eastleigh training ground this week - even though the German giants can offer the Nigerian an opportunity to play in Europe´s biggest club competition next season.Redknapp said: "We may be able to do something with Kanu. We´ve had a chat and we´ll have to see what comes of it. He´d be a good free transfer - like David Thompson. There could be something there."
