Rio Ferdinand believes it would be difficult for England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson to sacrifice either Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard in order to play a holding midfielder.Ferdinand recognises the value of a defensively-minded midfielder to protect the back four. But he insists the quality of Gerrard and Lampard - they both scored 20-plus goals for Liverpool and Chelsea respectively last season - would make it almost impossible for Eriksson to leave one or the other on the bench.Ferdinand told BBC Radio Five Live: "I think for defenders it´s great to have a holding midfielder because they protect - but if you are talking about Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard they are two great players. It would be hard to sit there as a manager and justify having one of them on the bench."
