Andriy Shevchenko - onetime Chelsea and AC Milan striker could be returning to the Premier League to join Birmingham City.

Birmingham's new owner Carson Yeung has reportedly had the approval from Dynamo Kiev to speak to the 33-year-old Ukrainian stating they will not stand in the way of Shevchenko joining the Blues. The former AC Milan star is no stranger to the Asian football market and would be a great business for the new owners raising Birmingham City's profile.

Carson Yeung has widely reported that Birmingham will have money to spend come the January transfer window. It would surely be one of the biggest signings in the transfer window.

The Ukraine is in top form as well with the Dynamo president Igor Surkis stating: 'Shevchenko is reborn, becoming as he was before leaving for Milan (in 1999). His eye for goal and speed will return."

Form

Andriy Shevchenko form has not gone unnoticed in Europe either. Last night in the Champions League, Shevchenko scored the only goal for Kiev in a 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan managed by his old master Jose Mourinho.

The Special One even praised the striker who never quite lived up to his profile in the Chelsea squad. Mourhino said after the match: 'Shevchenko is very much back. Here again is the player that we could see three or four years ago. He again became a great football player.'

City boss Alex Mclesih will be on cloud nine if the promised transfer kitty from the new owners comes true and recruits players of Shevchenko's caliber.
