Southgate vows to halt Boro slump

By PA Sport  October 08, 2007
Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate has urged his injury-hit squad to remain positive despite their recent run of poor form.

The Teessiders suffered their fifth defeat in six games as they became the latest victims of Sven-Goran Eriksson´s stunning start in charge of Manchester City.

"We know we are in a tough period. It would be easy for criticism to get us down but there is only us within the club who can put it right," said Southgate. "I am determined to do it and I believe I have enough players with character to want to do it."
