Roman Pavlyuchenko’s misery at Tottenham Hotspur is set to end in January with a move to Spanish giants Valencia who are set to land the striker.

The Russian forward, who arrived from Spartak Moscow for £14million just over a year ago, is becoming extremly frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities at White Hart Lane.

He is now fourth choice behind Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane, and Peter Crouch in the pecking order and has spent most of the season on the bench.

The 27-year-old is anxious that he will be dropped as a first choice striker for Russia, should they reach the World Cup finals in South Africa via the play-offs.

Valencia are ready to give Pavlyuchenko, first team football. The Spanish club have huge debts and are eager to off-load top striker David Villa for £35 million, with pavlyuchenko to fill the gap.

Tottenham will recoup at least £12 million of their initial outlay by selling the striker.

Manager Harry Redknapp will be keen to off-load Pavlyuchenko who has failed to impress since his move from Moscow.

The move could pave the way for the signing of former Manchester United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy whose contract at Real Madrid expires next summer.
