Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly after Monaco forward Eidur Gudjohnsen.
The Icelandic striker has struggled to settle in France after moving from Barcelona in the summer, and Spurs are preparing to pounce for the hitman now that the January window is open.
31-year-old Gudjohnsen has enjoyed previously successful spells in England, firstly at Bolton and then for Chelsea. Whilst at Stamford Bridge, he scored 54 goals in 182 Premier League appearances, becoming a firm favourite with the Blues faithful.
Gudjohnsen was influential in the 2005 title winning side, but sold to Barcelona a season later for a fee believed to be around €12 million. Used sparingly at the Nou Camp, the Icelander had been linked with a move away from Spain throughout his time in La Liga.
He stayed until last summer though, claiming a Champions League winners medal after victory against Manchester United.
A move to Monaco followed, but since then Gudjohnsen has only made eight appearances in the French province. Now, reports in French paper L'Equipe suggest contact has been made by both Spurs and West Ham.
Gudjohnsen was speculatively linked with the Hammers before choosing Monaco in the summer, and little has changed to make a move to Upton Park more appealing.Harry Redknapp is looking to offload Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko however, and the addition of a striker with proven european credentials would seem like a real possibility in north London.
