Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Kevin Bond has refuted suggestions that Manchester United are preparing a bid for Dutchman Rafael Van der Vaart.
Reports from Caughtoffside.com suggested the Premier League champions were plotting a player plus cash offer for the Spurs midfielder, who cost £8 million in the summer of 2010.
But Bond has responded to the claims, shooting down suggestions that Van der Vaart could be tempted by a move to Old Trafford.
When asked about the possible move, the assistant said: "Really? That's news to me."
The signing of Van der Vaart was considered to be coup for Spurs following his switch from Real Madrid, and the 28-year-old played a major role in the club's run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
After scoring 15 goals in his debut season at White Hart Lane, Van der Vaart was nominated for the PFA Players' Player of the Year, eventually losing out to teammate Gareth Bale.
This campaign, albeit dogged by injury, has seen the former Ajax youth player net eight goals, helping Harry Redknapp's side launch an assault on the Premier League title.
