Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning a deadline day move for England international Ben Foster.
The 26-year-old keeper has struggled to cement a regular spot at Old Trafford, and now Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp is apparently ready to make his move for the highly-rated keeper.
Signed by Manchester United in 2005, Foster built up his reputation during two season-long loan spells at Watford, helping the Hornets reach the Premier League via the play-offs during the 2005-06 season.
A debut for England followed in February 2007, appearing in the 1-0 defeat against Spain. Foster has made three more appearances for the Three Lions since, and has been a regular in the squad despite his lack of appearances in Manchester.
His stunning display in the 2009 Carling Cup final, against Spurs, left many believing that Foster would fulfill his potential with the Red Devils and go on to become the regular first choice for United when Edwin van der Sar retires.
However, a string of poor performances led to criticism at the start of the 2009-10 season, with Foster failing to capitalise on an injury to the first choice Dutchman.
Harry Redknapp has been linked with a string of goalkeepers during the January transfer window, with Championship stoppers Joe Lewis and Kieran Westwood both reportedly on the radar in north London.
Foster would be seen as a step-up from that pair, and would provide strong competition with Heurelho Gomes for the number one jersey rather than being a back-up for the Brazilian. The News of the World reports that he is now the number one keeper target at the Lane.With the final hours of the window upon us, Redknapp will have to use his transfer magic if he wants to sign Foster for the remainder of the campaign.
