Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp will have to part with Jermain Defoe if he wants to add Craig Bellamy to the ranks at White Hart Lane.
Redknapp has repeatedly been linked with a move for the feisty Welshman, and whispers of a move from Spurs re-surfaced heavily last week after an alleged bust-up between Bellamy and club manager Roberto Mancini.
The Manchester City striker only added to his value with a wonderful brace at Stamford Bridge as the Citizens produced a shock 4-2 victory against title-chasing Chelsea.
A cult hero with the blue half of Manchester, Mancini had reportedly told Bellamy to stay away from the club for the rest of the season after an internal row at the club's training ground. Although the story was blown out of proportion, both parties have since admitted that there was a disagreement within the camp.
The People reports that the Eastlands side would only let Bellamy leave the club if England striker Defoe could make the switch the other way.
Spurs star Defoe has scored 16 goals for the White Hart Lane club, including five in one game against Wigan earlier in the season. Bellamy only has 8 league goals to his name so far this season, but when fit he has spent most of his time on the wing. It's predicted that City would have to make a player-plus-cash offer, something that wouldn't be a problem for the super rich club. On paper an unlikely move, this could become the biggest transfer of the summer if City want to chase the highly-rated striker.
