Tottenham scouts are keeping tabs on Real Zaragoza keeper Roberto Jimenez according to The People.

The 25-year-old Spaniard only signed for the La Liga outfit in August, after enduring a turbulent year in Portugal with Benfica.

After returning to the club where he had spent half a season on loan from Atletico Madrid in 2010, Jiminez has been in impressive form, reportedly attracting interest from Spurs.

Harry Redknapp is believed to be on the look-out for a new stopper, as Heurelho Gomes looks set for a White Hart Lane exit in January due to a lack of first-team opportunities.

The summer arrival of Brad Friedel has meant that the Brazilian has fallen further down the Tottenham pecking order, and after he was overlooked in favour of Carlo Cudicini for Spurs' recent UEFA Europa League tie, Gomes has expressed a desire to leave.

With good goalkeeping options already in north London, Redknapp could turn to £8million-rated Jiminez, who would initially provide first-team cover with a view to replacing Friedel as Spurs' No.1 when the 40-year-old retires in the next couple of years.
