Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a summer move for former Manchester United winger Chris Eagles.
The 24-year-old is thought to have impressed Harry Redknapp despite fewer opportunities in the Premier League than expected, and the Spurs boss would be interested in making a move should the Clarets go down.
Eagles joined Burnley in 2008 after five years at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson. Earning over six league appearances for the Red Devils, Eagles had four loan stints at Watford, Sheffield Wednesday, Watford and NEC Nijmegen before making his move to Turf Moor.
Owen Coyle signed the talented right-footer for an undisclosed fee, and Eagles became an instant hit with his undoubted talent and attacking flare. He played a pivotal role in the sides eventual promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.
Eagles has started only 22 games in all competitions this season, possibly down to a defensive style being adopted in a bid to survive a tough first season in the Premier League. Redknapp has seen enough to be impressed though, and The People reports that the 63-year-old boss will make a move if Brian Laws' side go down.
Additionally, Eagles is a life-long Spurs fan and would reportedly welcome a move from the White Hart Lane club. With only a year left on his contract and aspirations to continue his career in the Premier League, Burnley will have to make a summer decision on the future of one of their brightest stars.
Relegation would almost certainly see an exodus of players, and the Clarets would face a massive fight if they were to keep hold of Eagles.
