Luis Suarez issued a public apology yesterday following widespread condemnation of his actions prior to Saturday's clash against Manchester United.

The Liverpool striker, banned for eight games after being found guilty of abusing Patrice Evra, refused to shake his hand before kick off.

Suarez said he has let the club and Kenny Dalglish down, who also apologised yesterday for conduct not "befitting of a Liverpool manager".

Roberto Mancini hailed his side after another win last night - and also said he would be prepared to welcome Carlos Tevez back to the club.
