Liverpool striker Fernando Torres looks set to miss a further three weeks of action after manager Rafael Benitez revealed the striker has begun a fresh course of treatment on his injury. The Spaniard was not involved in the Premier League draw with Birmingham City on Monday night, but has played through the pain of his groin injury in recent weeks in a bid to help get the Liverpool season back on track. It was originally thought that the forward needed surgery to end his injury problems, but the Reds boss is keen to avoid that so Torres can return sooner rather than later."We are talking of two or three weeks out now for Fernando," said Benitez. He continued on the Liverpool club website: "We will have to see how he reacts. We are not considering an operation yet. I don't know if he will be ready for Manchester City (on 21 November), the only thing I can say is we're talking about two or three weeks working with the physios."The Anfield side have been handed a boost with the news that Torres has been left out of the Spain squad for friendlies against Argentina and Austria in a bid to help the striker in his recovery.Coach Vincente Del Bosque said: "We spoke with Torres and Benitez and concluded that he shouldn't come here." Powered by: GiveMeFootball.com, the latest football news
