Manchester United have confirmed they expect Louis Saha to be fit for the start of the new season.

There were fears the France striker would be out until November after undergoing knee surgery in America earlier this month, but the Barclays Premier League champions insist the 28-year-old is recovering well and is continuing his rehabilitation.

The club said in a statement: "He is making good progress and is expected to be fit for full training by the start of the new season."
