Following on from Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema is the next hottest thing in the transfer market.
Benzema made his mark for Lyon in the 2007-08 season when he hit 31 goals in 51 games, and was named Player of the Year in France.
Lyon failed to win the title for the first time in eight years last season, but Benzema still ended the campaign with an impressive haul of 23 goals.
Now the big guns have come knocking, and
Manchester United face competition from Real Madrid and Inter Milan to sign the 21-year-old goal machine.
Lyon coach Claude Puel says the club are prepared to listen to offers, and adds: “We know his importance at Lyon and his efficiency in our squad. He's an exceptional player, but we also know the financial figures of the club.
"We will evaluate the situation with him when he comes back - July 2 - what he wants to do, we'll listen to him. For several months he has said that he wishes to stay with us for the year before the World Cup.
"If he has any dreams of leaving we will discuss them with him if there are any concrete offers, which is not the case at the moment.”
An offer of £35m might do the trick.
