Manchester United are interested in signing Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
United are expected to be in the market for a new keeper in the summer as they look for a replacement for Edwin Van Der Sar, who announced his retirement in January.
And according to the Bundesliga club’s chief executive, Clemens Tonnies, the Old Trafford club have made an enquiry about the German international.
"I have been approached by an international player agent, he gave me information about Manchester United being keen on Manuel Neuer," Tonnies told BILD.
"We would have to look into the details if we were to receive a written enquiry from Manchester."
Sir Alex Ferguson isn’t the only manager interested in the keeper, with Bayern Munich boss Louis Van Gaal also expressing his interest.
"I think we could do with Manuel Neuer," Van Gaal told BILD.
"A top team needs two top players in every position - in goal is no different.”
Capped 16 times by Germany, Neuer’s contract at the Veltins-Arena runs until 2012.
