Manchester United are set to rival Arsenal for the signature of Porto striker Hulk.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to strengthen his attacking options and more physical presence to his forward line as United target a fourth successive Premier League title.
Despite the 23-year-old having a release clause in his contract for no less than 100m euros it is thought that a realistic offer in the region of £20 million would be enough to secure the Brazilian's services.
"The big clubs in England have been in contact," said the player's agent Teodoro Fonseca.
"They have asked for details about his contract situation but any decision about his future rests mainly with the directors of Porto.
"I am calm about the situation and so is the player because he has an excellent future. I think we could be discussing a move in April or May."
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is also thought to be interested in signing Hulk, whose real name is Givanildo Vieira de Souza, with key striker Robin van Persie set to miss most of the season.
