Arsène Wenger has admitted he is unlikely to make a second move for Marouane Chamakh during the January window.

It has been reported that the Arsenal manager could renew his interest in Chamakh after Robin Van Persie was ruled out for a lengthy period of time.

Wenger was closely monitoring the Bordeaux striker in the summer knowing that the Moroccan international was into the final year of his contract with the French champions.

If a new contract is not agreed by January, Chamakh’s valuation should drop significantly and will be open to sign a pre-contract with another club.

However, talking to Arsenal.com, Wenger said: "At the moment I am inclined to say no [about going back for him] because I feel we have enough quality.

"Also I want to give a chance to Carlos Vela who comes back from injury and has great performances in training.

"Bordeaux are very reluctant [to sell]. The player will be free to sign where he wants but they will not get a lot of money for three months more [on this contract]."
