Wolves are set to complete their third signing in as many days with the capture of Sunderland full back Greg Halford for £2 million.

The club has confirmed their interest in the 24-year-old and he is expected to follow Kevin Doyle and Andrew Surman to Molineux.

Halford’s arrival would take Wanderers’ summer spending to over £12 million following the signings of Nenad Milijas for £2.6 million, Doyle for a club record £6.5 million and Surman for £1.2 million.

Halford, who spent last season on-loan at Sheffield United, will be seen as competition for regular right back Kevin Foley, who last season was voted the club’s Player of the Year.

Halford was touted as future star when he was signed by then Sunderland boss Roy Keane for £3million two years ago but has played only three games for the Black Cats.

However, last season he was an ever present for the Blades, helping them reach the Championship play-off final.
