Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola is confident misfiring forward Fernando Torres will find form at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard is yet to score in 10 appearances since his £50 million move from Liverpool in January and has come under heaps of criticism for his lackluster performances, particularly against Manchester United where he was controversially chosen ahead of Didier Drogba, who later scored the Blues' equaliser.
However Zola, who himself became a Chelsea great with some superb performances during his seven-year career in London, believes Torres' fortunes will change.
“As a manager you have to stick to your own ideas and if you know you are doing the best for your team you have to believe in it. I’m 100 per cent sure that Carlo is trying to do the best for the club," he said.
“Unfortunately it didn’t work out but I’m pretty much sure that Fernando Torres sooner or later he will be an important and fantastic player for Chelsea. He is a player for the future.”
The former Athletico Madrid forward will get his next opportunity to impress when Carlo Ancelotti's side visit West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
